Colwood Supportive Housing

Colwood, BC

The Colwood Supportive Housing Project is a 124-unit building at 342 Wale Road in the City of Colwood on Victoria’s Westshore, providing affordable housing to Indigenous peoples within the area. The Province is partnering with the Aboriginal Land Trust Society (ALT), Huu-ay-aht First Nations and the City of Colwood on this project. The building is earmarked for both First Nations singles and families. The building is a 6-storey wood-frame structure that includes common-area rooms on each floor as well as laundry rooms for residents. There is 64 one bedroom, 42 two bedroom, 12 three bedroom and 6 accessible one bedroom units, with balconies. Indigenous elements have been incorporated into the exterior design of the building, complemented by heavy timber canopies, stone veneer, and Hardie siding.

These homes are within walking distance to major transit routes, shopping, restaurants, and other services, offering convenience and life fluidity for residents. Additionally, an appealing landscape design has been incorporated into the project. This includes an extensive outdoor green space facing Victoria’s “Galloping Goose” walking and cycling trail, creating an atmosphere of tranquility.
