The new Burnaby North Secondary School is designed to accommodate up to 1,800 students, covering an expansive 15,640 m². An additional 2,000 m² is dedicated to a Neighbourhood Learning Centre, which supports Community & Continuing Education, along with a Childcare Centre. A 650 m² conference centre, connected to the school theatre, provides flexibility by combining both spaces to host larger events.

Instead of traditional wings with long, linear hallways, the school features an innovative layout of classrooms arranged in nine six-classroom pods, formed into a horseshoe shape. The heart of this design—a central commons or breakout area—encourages collaboration and interaction among students. This forward-thinking layout not only enhances the learning environment but also reflects a modern approach to education.
